If you're struggling with gold as much as I was, I've got a solution for you (assuming your build is reasonably strong). To get the most out of this strategy, follow the steps below.
Maps
Run T16.5 maps with around 90% Quantity and 40% Monster Pack Size.
Of course, make sure to avoid map modifiers that can brick your build.
Scarabs
Use:
1x Betrayal Scarab of the Allflame
4x Allflame Ember of the Gilded
If the maps feel too difficult, you can replace one Allflame Ember of the Gilded with a Scarab of the Dextral. This will make the maps significantly easier, but you'll earn a bit less gold as a result.
Atlas Tree
There are a few different Atlas setups you can run depending on how quickly you clear maps.
If your build has great clear speed, I'd recommend investing into Incursion. Alva should give you roughly an additional 50k gold per map.
Since my build clears a bit slower, I invested into Shrines instead to make the maps easier, along with the Lost in Transit notable. This adds Lost Shipments to your maps, giving you a chance to find extra Tattoos or Runegrafts.
There is a downside, though. There's a chance that Bismuth Ore won't spawn when Lost Shipment does, which obviously isn't ideal. Even so, I personally prefer taking the risk for the extra profit.
Another option is to spec into permanent Delirium by taking Unending Nightmare. This makes monsters much tougher and more dangerous, but if your build can handle it, I'd definitely recommend it. After taking that notable, grab the final Delirium notable that guarantees a 100% chance for Delirium to appear.
This setup is ideal for slower but more powerful builds since you won't have to worry about clearing fast enough—the Delirium effect will never expire.
Map Strategy
Don't kill any monsters at the start—just run past them.
Find the Bismuth Ore and activate it.
If Delirium spawned (there's an 8% chance it won't), go back and activate the Delirium Mirror.
Now clear the entire map however you like.
Simple, right?
One last tip: if you want to do something more profitable alongside farming gold—or simply want a chance at some valuable drops—add a Templar Astrolabe to your map.
It can further increase monster packs and make them stronger, resulting in even more gold. This part is completely optional. It does make each map a bit more expensive, but if you're lucky, you might get something valuable from Eagon.
If you don't want to spend currency on Astrolabes, simply invest those Atlas points into Map Modifier Effect instead.
